# Carousel Literature Review

Use this skill only for the research stage of the Codex-native carousel workflow.

This is a supporting skill, not a second workflow owner.

## Purpose

- reuse the existing OpenClaw literature-review capability
- search biomedical and academic sources without inventing a new research engine
- synthesize results into the business objects expected by the main workflow

## Operating Rules

- Keep the live OpenClaw workspace unmodified.
- Use the OpenClaw literature-review script as a search capability only.
- Write Codex-native outputs back into this repo under `state/ideas/<idea_id>/` through the repo-local helper layer.
- Do not let research notes become the source of truth; only persisted repo-local artifacts count.

## Expected Outputs

The main workflow expects you to produce or revise:

- `state/ideas/<idea_id>/research-summary.json`
- `state/ideas/<idea_id>/research-lock.json`
- or, before research approval, `artifacts/research/<idea_id>/<research_bundle_id>/research-lock-proposal.json`

Preferred persistence path:

- `python3 scripts/literature_review_wrapper.py build-package <spec.json>`
- `python3 scripts/literature_review_wrapper.py build-package <spec.json> --summary-only` for approval-gated supervised runs

In `--summary-only` mode, the wrapper no longer requires `approved_at`. It writes a pre-approval `research-lock-proposal.json` artifact instead of an approval-ready lock input.

At minimum, the synthesized research package should define:

- approved angle
- source list with citations
- required coverage
- allowed claims
- forbidden claims or inferences
- a concise summary of the supported evidence envelope

## When To Use This Skill

- first-pass evidence search for an approved angle
- DOI or PMID lookup for a known paper
- research-required revisions
- disputes about whether the current research lock still supports the draft

Do not use this skill for:

- design-only revisions
- wording cleanup within an unchanged evidence boundary
- preview generation or app debugging
